Nothing to wear? Well, you just can't go wrong with this iconic pairing of jeans and a nice top. The beauty of these items is that you can wear them for almost any occasion. It's also one of the most budget-friendly ways to update your wardrobe without breaking the bank. Over the last year, many of the women I have worked with have all wanted to focus on building a capsule wardrobe with quality pieces that will work hard for them. So, when it comes to tops it's great to focus on classics that you know you can simply throw on and look effortlessly stylish. Sometimes, you may want to update your wardrobe with a new trending piece but I always advise my clients to think about longevity with every item they buy. Ask yourself this first - Does the item suit my style personality? Will I want to wear that top again and again?? Then you will have your answer on making that intentional purchase.
When buying tops it is key that you also think about your body shape. As a personal stylist when I look at any shape we aim to create balance by flattering your shape in all the areas you love and concealing the areas you are not so keen on. So, it is important to select the right styles that will suit your shape. For example, if you are pear shaped then a top with frills or prints will look great on you as this will help balance out your shape and keep the focus on your top half. If you are big busted then opting for a V neck will help minimise this area and draw the eye down. If you have a tummy that you want to conceal then a skimming peplum style or wrap style will be a great choice.
